The Curse of The Black Pearl
Corsair and Myra Collins
Juvenile Workout on 4 Furlongs
It had been a week since the black colt had arrived at Crimson Haven and he was scheduled for his first workout, and then his first race January week 1. He stood politely for the grooms as he always did. That is, until he felt the saddle upon his back. One groom had to hold his head while the others moved quickly to avoid his flying hooves. Finally, the son of Buccaneer was ready for his first workout. Myra got a lift from Tony and then the colt was lead to the gates. As soon as he was asked to load, Corsair immediately refused. Rearing and protesting with his neighs, the colt was quite a sight to see. When he finally loaded with some help from behind, the black colt decided to kick out at the gates. The pair stood until Corrin stopped, which wasn't long as the colt was anxious to be out of the gate. As soon as the gate was open, the black colt shot out with his ears pinned and teeth bared, instantly taking on a fast pace. Myra was constantly fighting the colt for control, who seemed to be burning his pent up energy. He ran the distance incredibly fast and wasn't breathing hard, nor did he break a sweat. The colt was ready for his first race.

Reality
Surrealism and Myra Collins
Juvenile Workout on 5 Furlongs
The third new arrival from the January Sale had arrived from Oceanic View Stables to Crimson Haven. The colt would be worked and then entered in his first race such as his peers. It took a little while for Mirage to get used to his new handlers, but after they had fed him an oreo, the colt was happy. Unfortunately, Surrealism was still at the bottom of the pecking order at Crimson Haven, often grazing alone in a corner of the pasture. True to his nature, Surrealism was calm and almost seemed to be dozing as the grooms saddled him. Until they tried to put on his bridle. The bay colt raised his head as soon as he saw the bridle. It took a few attempts and an oreo to finally have him bridled and ready. Mirage was continually calm after his warm up and loaded into the gate without much trouble, a relief for Myra after her workout with Corsair. The colt broke slowly, but paced himself to settle into his preferred position throughout the entire workout. Mirage listened to Myra and was an easy mount to ride without the jockey having to pull on the bit. The colt would be ready to land in the winner's circle.

Catching Fire
Constitution and Dylan Gray
Juvenile Workout on 5 Furlongs
The red roan colt's coat was shimmering brilliantly in the California sun after being groomed to perfection. Conner was given a pickle after standing still for so long, and then prepared for his workout by the grooms. Unlike the others two colts Crimson Haven had acquired from the January Sale, Conner had no vices when it came to saddling and bridling. The colt was lead to the turf track and seemed to be happy to be out to stretch his legs. The red roan loaded into the gate without any troubles and stood there patiently, seeming to wait for the other horses that would appear on race day. The bell sounded and Conner was out in a blink of the eye, taking large strides and devouring the turf beneath him. He ran flawlessly, listening to his jockey's commands and paying attention to everything around him, but not losing focus. The colt was cooled down, then settled back into his stall.

A New Conquest
Final Conquest and Myra Collins, Wise Guy and Dylan Gray, Corsair and Tony Anderson, Surrealism and Natasha Paige.
Juvenile Workout: Wise Guy, New Lease: Final Conquest
Clouds settled over the sun and wind blew over the track as the two Thoroughbreds were led on to the track. The juvenile and the seasoned racer seemed to dance over the dirt, spraying dust in every direction as they headed for the track. Wise Guy was a new addition to the stable and was given a couple of weeks to settle in. Final Conquest was also a new arrival, coming from North Diamond Manor for a year 17 lease. The staff were excited to see Conrad attack HoTY races head on this coming year. The other two horses had just arrived for their workout before a race.
Corsair, with Tony Anderson aboard, was rather grumpy. The juvenile had just debuted two weeks before in January Week 1 and came back with a rather disappointing 5th place result in the Mighty Moose Stakes. The other juvenile, Surrealism, had also placed poorly: a 4th place in The Wire Janvier Maiden. After some time, the horses were loaded into the gate. All the racers loaded without a trouble, except for Corsair, who needed some extra encouragement. The gates opened and the four horses scrambled to arrange themselves in their running positions.
Final Conquest settled near to the two front runners, Corsair and Wise Guy, who were battling for the lead. Surrealism was not too far behind but still trying to recover from a slow start. The two juvenile front runners started to pull ahead as their jockeys gave them full rein. Corsair had won the duel for first place between him and Wise Guy, but Final Conquest and Surrealism were starting to gear up. Wise Guy started to slow down, seeming to be tired from fighting with Corsair. It was down to the final stretch and the three Thoroughbreds were not relenting, waiting for each other to give up. As if waiting for the right time, Final Conquest pulled away for his head to cross under the wire first, with Corsair following hard on his heels for a second place. Surrealism snatched third place and Wise Guy cantered across the finish line, clearly tired.
